We got up and had the same delicious breakfast… fancy coffee and steel cut oats with blueberries and apples.
We drove to Whatcom (pronounced WOK-um) Falls. When we got in the car, Sandra told the car to go to “Whatcom Falls,” but what her car heard was:
We laughed really hard. Tammy and I were apparently the fools that Sandra was going to walk with. We went on a lovely walk through the woods and saw the falls. The path wound through the forest and brought us to Whatcom Lake. Penny enjoyed the walk, too.
When we got home, I worked on my blog while Sandra had a meeting.
We had chicken ravioli with pesto and sausages for lunch. We got ready to go and headed to Lynden, which is where their daughter Diane lives. We walked around the town of Lynden for a bit and saw the famous hanging baskets and the windmills since it is a Dutch town.
Then we headed to Diane’s house. Diane’s husband Matt was watching the boys, but he had an appt so we took the boys with us to a park near their house. At the park, Tammy and I played pickleball with Kelvin. He picked it up very quickly and beat us. Tammy went over with the boys and Kelvin and I kept playing. He beat me in two more games. He is super fit! Tammy played pickleball with Graham (6 year old).
We watched Hudson (3 year old) ride his bike with no training wheels over the dirt hills made for mountain bikes. It was quite impressive! Then we went back to their house.
Diane was done working and we chatted while she cooked a delicious dinner of pasta with pesto and sausages, salad, and garlic bread. I’ve heard so much about Diane for years that it was wonderful to finally meet her. We enjoyed talking during dinner. The boys built a train track with Kelvin after dinner. We left when it was time for the boys to get ready for bed.
When we got home, we had tea and chocolate. The sunsets are beautiful over the water with the mountains in the background. After chatting awhile, we headed downstairs. I worked on packing before getting ready for bed.
